BEVERLY: I can sum this up as one of the best events I've ever attended. I enjoy drag racing but this was so much more. I'll start with the bevy of beauties, (not the girls) the cars!!

Check out our pictures from Sunday. There was a car show that was awesome in itself taking place on the midway. But then we have so many show cars that were actually racing. I have never seen anything quite like it.

I met a couple of the drivers. Cameron Cobles races the XS or extreme street series. His 69' Nova qualified #2 at 8.43 seconds and 168 mph. Cameron made it into the semi finals and lost in a very close race. This car is 3540 lbs with a 10 1/2 inch tire non W. He has been racing over 10 years and his home track is in Lawrenceburg TN. Check out his car on Page1.

Another driver I talked to is Frankie Radake whose home track is Gateway International. Frankie finished 2003 5th in points in the DTS Nostalgia Muscle Car class. He qualified sixth at 11.02 on an 11.00 index. You'll see a picture of Frankie's 68' Camaro on page 1. That's not Frankie in the picture by the way, that's one of his friends standing by the car. He made it to 3rd round.

It was an extremely HOT day in Michigan. We are talking sweating in the shade hot! This is pretty unusual but I can promise anyone that showed up for this event whether it was Friday, Saturday or Sunday was not complaining. If you have never been to one of these NMRA events, you have to check out the schedule and go this year. If you've missed the one in your area, make a point to go next year. This is a great show and you won't be disappointed.

This was one of the midway vendors Brian Robbins in the shut down area. Not your typical 6 second car Burn out contest. Don was watching from the burnout box. I was watching from the stands
